THE PRACTICAL ELEGANCE OF A SEIKO SOLAR TWO-TONE

This Seiko Solar V137-0CH0 brings together a compact stainless-steel case, restrained proportions, and a quietly distinctive two-tone finish. At 27 millimeters in diameter and only 8 millimeters thick, it has the easy presence of a classic everyday watch without feeling oversized. Its slim profile and integrated-looking bracelet give the design a composed, versatile character, while the gold-tone accents add just enough contrast to keep the watch visually engaging.

The black dial with gold-tone detailing is the focal point of the design, pairing polished hour markers and hands with a neatly framed date window at 3 o’clock. The surrounding bezel carries matching gold-tone accents, and the gold-tone crown continues the color treatment at the case side. A mineral crystal protects the dial, while the stainless-steel caseback is marked for 10-bar water resistance and identifies the V137-0CH0 reference.

The exact production period of the V137-0CH0 has not been established through an official Seiko catalog or dated product record, so it is best understood within the broader history of Seiko’s solar quartz watches. Seiko introduced a solar-powered watch as early as 1977, and later improvements in solar power-generation efficiency during the 1990s helped make light-powered watches more affordable and more prevalent. This reference reflects that longer development: a practical quartz watch with the convenience of light-powered operation presented in a conventional, wearable dress-and-everyday format.

At its heart is Seiko’s V137 Solar quartz movement, powered by light rather than a conventional disposable battery. Official Seiko documentation describes its rechargeable manganese-titanium-lithium power source, step-motor drive, overcharge protection, and energy-depletion warning function. The caliber is specified at approximately ±15 seconds per month under normal temperatures, while its date mechanism follows Seiko’s standard calendar-setting guidance, including avoiding date changes between 9:00 p.m. and 1:00 a.m.

The stainless-steel bracelet, accented by gold-tone center links, completes the watch’s balanced everyday design and closes with a Seiko-marked folding clasp. Its compact case, 34-millimeter lug-to-lug length, and 7-millimeter lug width make it especially approachable on smaller wrists, while the two-tone palette allows it to move easily between casual and more formal settings. With its light-powered quartz platform and restrained proportions, the V137-0CH0 is a straightforward example of Seiko’s effort to make useful solar technology part of daily wear.

03 Condition report

This Seiko Solar V137-0CH0 is in good pre-owned condition, with visible signs of normal wear across the stainless-steel case, bezel, and bracelet. The bracelet’s gold-tone center links and stainless-steel outer links show surface scratches consistent with use, while the Seiko-marked folding clasp presents corresponding wear. The black dial remains clear and well defined, with gold-tone hands and applied hour markers intact and a legible date display at 3 o’clock. The mineral crystal has been replaced with a brand-new crystal and presents accordingly. The gold-tone crown is intact. Water resistance has not been tested and should not be assumed.

Assessed in-house from the watch in hand. Full details on request.
